Answers for sellers who use Garage Sale QR to label items at in-person garage sales. If you do not find your question here, email [email protected].

Getting started

What kinds of sales is this for?
Any in-person resale where buyers are physically near your stuff. The four most common setups: (1) apartment or home cleanouts — post the QR on your building's bulletin board or by the front door so nearby neighbors can buy; (2) as a companion to online marketplaces — share one storefront link instead of posting items one at a time; (3) traditional garage and yard sales — add the QR to your sidewalk sign so people preview your items before they stop; and (4) large furniture or appliances you cannot easily move — stick a QR on the item and let buyers check photos and price online before deciding.
Is Garage Sale QR free?
Yes — everything (creating an account, listing items, generating QR codes, printing PDFs) is free today, and we have no paid plans or pricing in the works right now. That said, we will not promise it stays free forever: if the service grows enough that hosting costs make a paid tier necessary down the road, we may introduce one. If that ever happens, we will give existing users plenty of notice first, and the core "print a sticker, sell at your garage sale" flow will always have a free path.
How do I sign in?
Two options: continue with Google, or enter your email to receive a one-time magic link. Magic links are valid for 15 minutes and can only be used once.
My magic link email never arrived. What now?
Check your spam/junk folder first — transactional email occasionally gets filtered. If it is still missing after a minute, request a new link (limited to 5 per hour per email). If the problem persists, email [email protected] and we will look into the delivery log.

QR stickers and printing

If I edit a listing after printing the QR sticker, do I have to reprint it?
No. Every QR sticker points to a permanent, opaque URL that we lock in when the listing is created. You can change the title, price, photos, condition — anything — and the same printed sticker will keep working.
What kind of paper or labels should I print on?
Plain copy paper works for indoor use. For sticker labels, any standard self-adhesive label sheet from an office supply store is fine. The generated PDF prints QR codes at a size that scans reliably from arm's length — print at 100% (do not "shrink to fit") and you are good.
What happens if a buyer scans a sticker for a listing I have deleted?
They land on a short "This listing isn't available." page instead of an error. The sticker itself does not become harmful or expose anything — it is just a dead link.

Photos and privacy

Will my home address leak through photo GPS data?
No. iPhone and Android photos can carry GPS coordinates accurate to a few meters in their EXIF metadata. We strip all EXIF metadata — including location, device serial, and timestamps — in your browser before the photo is ever uploaded. The version that reaches our storage has no location data.
Can I upload iPhone HEIC photos directly?
Yes. HEIC files are converted to JPEG in your browser before upload, so they display correctly for everyone (including Android buyers). You do not need to convert them first.
How many photos can I add, and how big can they be?
Up to 8 photos per listing. Each photo is automatically compressed to roughly 500 KB on your device before upload, so you do not need to resize anything first — pick straight from your camera roll.

Listings and selling

Do my listings expire automatically?
No. Listings stay live until you delete them or mark them sold. Garage sales are seasonal — we do not want to silently take a listing offline before you are done with it.
How do I mark something as sold?
From your dashboard, open the listing and choose "Mark as sold." The buyer-facing page then shows a "Sold" banner and the SMS contact button is hidden, but the printed sticker keeps working (so buyers learn it is gone instead of getting a dead link).
Can I edit a listing on my phone?
Yes. The dashboard is fully usable on mobile — adding photos, editing prices, and marking items sold all work from a phone browser at the sale itself.

How buyers contact you

How does the SMS contact button work?
When a buyer taps "Text seller" on your listing page, their phone opens its native SMS app pre-filled with your number and a short message referencing the item. There is no in-app chat — the conversation is a normal text thread on both sides.
Will buyers see my phone number?
Yes — your phone number is shown in plain text on the listing page (under "Or text directly:") so buyers on desktops or devices without an SMS app can still reach you. We do not run a relay or proxy number. If you would rather not share your personal line, sign up with a Google Voice number (or another forwarding number) and use that as the contact number on your account.
Do buyers need to create an account to contact me?
No. Buyers just scan the QR code and tap the contact button. No signup, no login, no app install.

Account and data

How do I delete my account or a single listing?
Listings can be deleted from your dashboard at any time — the photos are removed from storage shortly after. To delete your entire account and all associated data, email [email protected] from the address on your account and we will process the request.
Where is my data stored?
On Cloudflare's US infrastructure: account data and listings in Cloudflare D1 (SQLite), photos in Cloudflare R2. See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown of what we collect and who we share it with.
What if I want to report a listing?
For abusive or prohibited listings, email [email protected] with the listing URL.

Still stuck? Email [email protected] and we will get back to you within a business day.
